What does it take to work up to being a moderator? If it ever came to the point where you would be accepting moderators or applications I am interested in what you would look for.
Pretty sure everyone so far was just modded on albert's whims, primarily from those who were initially invited when the site went invite only. I don't know if there's any set criteria really. A valid question though, and we probably could use a couple more mods, if they're going to be really active, given how the mod queue tends to get.
If the question of more moderators is on the table, I'd like to nominate myself. I was a mod previously and I was fairly good at that. I'm on here a lot and I know the quality standards very well. I'm a very prolific poster and I have the highest average image rating on the site.

The main thing is going through the queue of uploaded images and approving the acceptable ones. Thus anyone chosen for mod really needs to know what is and isn't allowed and have a sense of what the community likes.
There are also things like performing mass tag edits and such, using options non-mods don't have access to, so of course you have to be able to figure those out, as well as know how all the normal tagging features work. And then of course your basic forum maintenance like locking/deleting improper posts/threads. And helping to answer user questions like this, though anyone can (and will) do that last one if they want to. Ditto on participating in discussions about tagging guidelines.
This is a case where it's okay to nominate yourself, because given albert's recent call for mods to suggest people, I'm planning to do so but it helps to know who else (besides the couple who mentioned it already) is actually interested first. Obviously it makes sense only to try if you're already privileged, have a couple hundred uploads at least, participate in discussions on tagging, and don't have too many deleted posts.
Well then, if it's okay, I nominate myself. Maybe I can't translate that well japanese (only katakana and hiragana plus a couple of kanjis), but I can help with other things. At least I can help if someone needs a spanish to english translation =P
I've browsed through every image ever since I joined. I still trying to catch up but I don't plan on missing any image. While doing this, I make sure to fix ratings, tags, and any other info needing fixing. I'm pretty OCD so I strive to make sure everything is as it should be with the most accurate information.
I haven't uploaded much recently because I've been trying to catch up, but I have a lot of stuff I haven't seen on here and plan on flooding when I get the chance.
I'd also like to add that I'm very interested in cleaning up tags and mass tag editing. There are so many broken tags or duplicate tags that need to be consolidated.

Maybe we can make a list of people who know languages other than Japanese and are willing to translate. It doesn't come up that often, but it would be nice if there was someone to PM for images that need a special translation. It's not really reasonable to expect someone to check for "arabic translation_request" every day in case a new image pops up.
As for modding, I already check every image, translation note, and comment in case translation stuff is needed, so I'd be willing to do it. For qualifications, I have a whole lot of translation notes (I think more than anyone, after Lac), and a burning passion for viewing images of 2D girls in indecent poses.
I didn't make it clear that I was interested in becoming a mod in my original post, but I am.
I know the site pretty well, I've done a little or more of "all the above" and I've somehow kept up with 99% of all images uploaded since October. I spot dupes pretty fast.
And I promise free ice cream for everyone. And robot legs.

I have not a long time on danbooru but I got to love the whole community fast, I spend my time uploading whole artbooks and high-quality stuff that I get from various sources. I also spend a lot of time tagging and correcting tags from every image i can, and I even spend time at work doing that. I'm a forum moderator in a computer site, and I got used to that open/close threads, answering user feedback and more on.
I haven't uploaded much, either, but I have some considerably high standards.
That, and I visit Danbooru often enough as to where I could take a bit of a load off of the moderation queue. It's not really for me to say, but I'd like to say I have a good sense of what the average browser does and doesn't like, in terms of quality.
They are proposed by current mods to albert, and I guess uploads you did have a lot to do there, since moderation queue is being used for filtering content.
I'm pretty sure (maybe 95%) posting here doesn't change anything, or depending on what you say will make you loose chances.
So I think it works like this: mod proposes user to albert, albert checks the user, if he/she passes the "test" asks if he/she is interested in becoming a mod.
PS: And I would think about locking this post since it can get HUGE of people interested, and the original question "path to moderator" has been answered already.

The reason I asked is actually quite simple. I had people in mind for recommendations, but it's good to know beforehand if they're even interested. Someone might be well suited to it but not actually have any burning desire to become a mod. Or someone I wasn't sure about might actually be interested. It's simply gauging interest.

I'm not really worried about that, this hasn't exactly become a huge thread. Or even slightly large. That said I figure albert probably has a number of recommendations by now, so any further self nominations might not be necessary.

Well since it wasn't really the main topic, I though this had gone a little off, of the original path, in any case yes, it's good to know it before hand, saves time, but with those people who did you have in mind you could have sent mail to them *now that we have such an awesome feature*, this works too though :P.
