Tag Alias: hand_to_face -> hand_on_face

Posted under General

thanks for the input guys, i've almost forgotten about this.

i've asked the source of hand (other person or the owner) because among hand/s_*some_body_part, hand_to_chest/hands_to_chest and hand_on_chest/hands_on_chest only got proper definitions.

hand_to_chest - "Placing the hand on one's own chest"
hands_to_chest - "Bringing both hands to one's own chest"

hand_on_chest - "When a character puts (one or both of) his or her hand on another character's chest"
hands_on_chest - is this still necessary? there's breast suppress btw. but we can keep it for uniformity and split the definition above for one and both hands instead.

going back to hand_to_face and hand_on_face, it seems we'll keep them separate. but on what specific conditions?

are we going by the source of the hand or when point of contact was made?

if we are going to use when contact was about to be made and hand/s is/are directed towards the face, i propose the following aliases:

(whoever the owner) hand_to_face -> hand_towards_face
(whoever the owner) hands_to_face -> hands_towards_face

and that will leave hand_on_face and hands_on_face exclusively for the hand/hands (back or palm) when they touched the face.

i feel it's much clearer and less ambiguous and probably less prone to tag misuse.

but i still need others' opinion before making the wikis and possible cleaning. thanks.

Even though there are very little images tagged as hands_on_chest, it's more of an issue of misuse and needs to be cleaned (in addition to the other to_chest/on_chest tags). I'd say it's still good to keep the tag, I can't think of any examples now though. Even I was confused with the to_chest/on_chest tags back in forum #64625.

If you're going with point of contact, then the same might need to be made for the to_chest/on_chest tags. Also, what of one character touching another's face?

ok. seconding to keep hands_on_chest.

If you're going with point of contact

personally, i really wanted to follow the definitions set by hand_to_chest/hands_to_chest and hand_on_chest/hands_on_chest. following them will give us uniformity and consistency, and hopefully taggers will be less confused when using the related hand/s_*_face variants.

i've scanned again the posts and it appears hands not yet in contact with the face is very rare. and i think finger_to_face would be a better alternative instead than using the entire hand.

i might proposed the whoever the owner aliases, but i'm not strongly advocating the point of contact scenario.

Also, what of one character touching another's face?

going by the source of hand is probably the better criteria to differentiate the tags.

proposed new wiki definitions:
hand_to_face - "Placing the hand to[*] one's own face"
hands_to_face - "Bringing both hands to one's own face"

hand_on_face - "When a character puts one of his or her hand on another character's face"
hands_on_face - "When a character puts both of his or her hand on another character's face"

or/and if the point of contact is about to be made (or hand/s directed to the face) really that matters, i propose the hand_towards_face/hands_towards_face for those specific situations. but i feel this is unnecessary at the moment, for me at least.

thanks.

EDIT: [*] i think, we need to tweak the defs of using the words in each tags itself in the wikis to avoid confusion. hand_to_chest says "Placing the hand on one's own chest. on sounds better and correct though. but to avoid mixing things up maybe it needs to be set to to instead. any thoughts?

EDIT2: i've made a modified suggestion in forum #68858
