Because cherry tree is already aliased to cherry blossoms, it's only logical that we do the same with the plural tag. Everything tagged cherry tree appears to feature trees in bloom, anyway.

I'm not entirely sure why cherry tree was aliased to cherry blossoms since you can have trees not in bloom and blossoms without the tree?

I honestly have no idea why that alias exists either, and it seems there wasn't any discussion about it. We have tags for other tree varieties, after all. Regardless, having a plural cherry trees tag is absurd, and if the older alias is undone, it ought to be aliased to the singular.
