"Not anime-related"

How? Indeed those aren't anime-styled. A lot of not-anime related artworks have been flagged, not just because of quality issues. Sometimes with ridiculous reasons like:

edit: it's the "god, honor, fatherland" that's not on the IRL sword that dogwhistles"

  • post #5856392 Reason: "off-topic (and part of uploader's trend of uploading nazi-adjacent art of low quality)"

How? I personally dislike those posts.

Nobody really cares what you personally dislike. This isn't a site ran solely by you. If you are flagging things just because you dislike them you'll quickly find it to be a bad decision. So don't do that.

They might not be super anime-styled but we have plenty of active artwork in that style. We've long-since abandoned the idea that we are solely for anime (see the great flag war of 2016), as long as it's good.

Off-topic isn't a "ridiculous reason". Dunno if I'd call them that myself, but neither of those images are particularly high quality. One of them also got re-approved so not like there is a bias against whatever you're uploading.

There is a discussion if "not anime related" is still a valid flag reason. We have tons of western-ish art on the site now. It was allowed even a decade ago if it had "exceptional" quality and now days its really just Simpsons and Southpark stuff that is really off topic.

Case in point. post #5778105

For the record, these are not against the upload rules. They're redrawings of historically important pictures, and most importantly the IRL part is fully censored, so whether they belong on site is up to the approvers, like any other "normal" guro or guro-adjacent picture.

They should fall under Off-topic: photograph, specifically:

Photographs: porn actresses, selfies, World War II photos, pet photos

This rule is obviously made for real photos with no anime context. The ones in question are all photo background which is fine. Don't try to bend rules to your liking.
Something like post #4408539 isn't off-topic, just because it has a photo background.

That may be so, but if someone, today, were to commit murder, take pictures of the corpses, draw an anime girl over them and censor the bodies, and then we later learned they were pictures of real life recently deceased individuals, I doubt, and really hope not, anyone would argue in favor of keeping them. The only difference here is that the photos in question are "historical."

Yes, they're extremely important historically, but to begin with I don't see how photos from an almost 50 year old war has anything to do with an anime art aggregator site. I don't wanna hear any "but we're not really an anime site anymore", either, yes we are. Just because we allow "non-anime" things to a certain degree doesn't change that, be it style or content, most of what we currently host and continue to upload is at least anime-adjacent.

Further, I don't think adding a sexualized anime girl to a photo of a mutilated corpse, with the offending part mosaic'd with the word CENSORED plastered almost comically over it, improves the "message" of the photos in any way. If anything, the edits serve only to devalue the photos. I would also rather we not compare real life corpses to guro, a niche, polarizing fetish tag.

If the admins say those photos are okay, fine, but I don't agree with it, and I don't like the provided reasons.
