Alias neck_warmer -> neck_gaiter

BUR #15610 has been rejected.

create alias neck_warmer -> neck_gaiter

According to the Wikipedia article, it is the same thing under different name. However neck gaiter is the more common term. I requested an alias in order to prevent other users from making another redundant tag.

I have literally never heard it called that, and the article you linked says nothing about "gaiter" being a more common term.

According to Google Trends, gaiter is more common in much of the US, Australia, Japan, Brazil... while warmer is more common in Canada, France, UK, Russia, with gaiter being more common worldwide. I've never heard them called gaiters either so I'm more inclined to go with warmer (doubly so because it matches the dozen other *_warmer tags we have).

Sorry if you had to disagree. But is it OK if i change the alias into the opposite way according to what you suggested?

You should just make a new one. It's not uncommon to have two BURs in the same thread for one way or the other.

Thank you for your criticism. A latter option, if you do disagree with the first one. And if you think the habit of changing the older BUR with multiple votes is not a good action. Also, why not bother to cast vote on other (more reasonable) BURs instead of downvoting few of them (especially mine)?

Seems like Neck Gaiter is the official term, while Neck Warmer is the unofficial term and if what Talulah says

Then the tag should be Neck gaiter over neck warmer

I don't know what you mean by "official". There is no central authority on neck warmers that dictates what they are called. It's a regional term.

Regardless, if Neck Gaiter is more commonplace, then that is what it should be called.
