Failbooru

Posted under General

Can anyone tell me what's the cause of Failbooru and are they're steps to take in order to prevent from happening again? I frequently get this message from time to time and every time I received the message, it's alway seem to be followed by a "error post already exist" message soon after.

BTW this seem slightly off-topic if two people try to post the same image at the exact same time, does ther server decides who get's the post by alphabetic order?

I get it too, but the "Error post exists" is not related.

I don't think so, more like your not lucky. :D

Whenever I get a failbooru message, it's usually at the end of a large upload, typically at least 1.5 MB. I guess your browser times out, but the upload is still continuing and will finish eventually. Beyond that, I don't know any other reason why it would show up.

I get failbooru messages somewhat frequently while just browsing the site.

Same here. I never understood what causes those incidents exactly but I think it might be a hiccup in the server.

Yeah, it usually happens when 1.5MB+ are uploaded, but I tend to get the failbooru message a lot more during Danbooru daily "rush hour(s)" posting. I have a hunch it has to do with several people trying to post the same picture at the same time.

Is Failbooru the "The database timed out" error or the "Something broke, an email has been sent to the developers" error?

I get the former more frequently, but the latter usually takes more time and more reloads to go away.

I think it's both, but I believe they are mainly talking about the "database timed out" error. I usually get this error when I'm searching comments and when trying to add a new artist on the upload page.

I can't speak for the others, but I was talking about the "Something broke, an email has been sent to the developers" one. I still get database timed out error sometimes, but typically only when I look through user pages.

Database timeouts usually happen because the site is too busy. However, if you consistently get timeouts when doing a specific action it should be reported as a bug. It's probably because there's a database column somewhere that isn't indexed.

Log said: I get 50% more database timeouts on the /user/show pages than I do anywhere else, at times it's a small miracle I can view one at all.

It's not as bad as it used to be for me, but it has gotten worse again since it got better awhile ago.

I'm sorry to bring this back up but I was wondering if anyone figured out what's causing these "failbooru" problem yet? I just had a recent failbooru mishap which cost me a post and quietly frankly this has been happening to me for a while now. The image involved within the recent event wasn't even over a MB in size yet it still happened so the whole >1MB = Failbooru seem false. I made a statement somewhere on Danbooru about it being users to users based but I still don't have enough evidence to prove it. Has anyone face "failbooru" when trying to upload something smaller than 1MB?

Maybe it's me then since I have a certain pattern of falibooru sighting as I rarely get failbooru for anything other than uploading. I might get one or two for editing tags or browsing, but I get the bulk of them from posting. It also happens with battling with a certain users but that could be a coincidence.

I get failbooru'd rather frequently, whether from commenting, browsing the various indexes, viewing user profiles, or whatever.

I haven't encountered the problem during uploads, but I think it's most likely just because I haven't done much uploading thus far.
