Artist tagging help

I have no idea what I'm doing, and I would like to be able to contribute to the site. How do I tag an artist and keep the original source? I can't seem to figure it out, I have read howtotag, and have created the artist. When I try to add the artist the source changes to the artist's page. I apologize for my stupidity. Note: the post is from pixiv, I don't know if that makes a difference to the procedure.

I'm assuming the post in question is post #1485739.

To add an artist tag like hayano_light to the post, just tag the post with hayano_light, like any other tag. It shouldn't affect the source.

Other things of note:

• Use the direct image link when posting from Pixiv. In this case it's http://i1.pixiv.net/img17/img/light-k/37813568.jpg instead of http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=big&illust_id=37813568 (what you used). If you do this Danbooru will automatically download from Pixiv and you don't need to upload a file.
• Check what tags are used for before tagging them. In this case the character tag you want appears to be ciel_sacred, not ciel.
• The artist's name is 早野　光, so the tag should probably be hayano_hikari instead of hayano_light. The reason is that names should only be romanized, not translated. If you don't know how to romanize it, you can ask in this thread for help: topic #8199.
• Try to include more general tags on your posts. The related tags feature can help with this.

Thanks I was really thrown off by that. In regards to romanizing, hayano light is what google chrome automatically translated to. Would albert rather I see topic #8199 than have google translate?

Google translate translates instead of romanizing. Names should be romanized, so you shouldn't use google translate when creating artist tags.

In addition to the thread I linked you can try websites like http://romaji.me/, or the Tangorin names dictionary for romanizing names.
