Tag Alias & Discussion: huge_breasts and gigantic_breasts

Posted under General

We currently have these two tags that are roughly similar:
huge_breasts are, "Breasts that are extremely large compared to the character's overall proportions. The preferred rule of thumb is that breasts which are as large or larger than the character's head are huge...."

gigantic_breasts are, "Breasts of a tremendous size, at least as big as the girl's head, though usually larger."

In the latter's case, however, it goes on to note that, "...breasts about twice the size of the head are BANNED under Danbooru's Terms of Service ('grotesque')."

As far as I'm concerned, these are the same thing and would suggest an alias. Because of connotation and simple physics, I'd actually prefer it be,
huge_breasts -> gigantic_breasts
to reinforce that these are unnatural or going to shrink, lest back deformities develop, but as it's something that I continue to strongly consider blocking, either way works.

Alternatively, if we decide we're keen on keeping breasts the size of torsos about, then the next order would be to clarify policy. I've seen a good number of fairly flagrant violations of the second part of gigantic_breasts (much of it from the uniformly-awful Queen's Blade), and was wondering if the "twice a head" guideline is, in fact, still our official stance. I know there are cases (one that I recall) that preposterously large breasts have been used for comic effect, but by and large these seem to tend toward being bad pornography.

TL;DR: Do you want to see breasts the size of young children on Danbooru?

We still need "huge breasts" for all the implausibly-sized breasts that squeak by on a technicality (the 2 head rule). I don't want posts like that to get mixed in with breasts that are simply... large.

Dump all 73ish gigantic_breasts posts back to the queue, then alias gigantic to huge.

Or just delete them all outright; post #404050 is the only one I would appeal (since it's really just a perspective issue).

I still stand by my opinion that the outright total ban of them is stupid. We have things like post #475452 is making fun of Sakuya's use of pads but it's some "taboo" and "poor quality" because her breasts are too large. We even have things like post #15727 where there is a reason for the abnormally sized and "grotesque" sized member.

We're banning something that comes down more as a artist's style choice more than anything else, and somehow it is automatically banned. You guys claim it's an error because it's out of bodily proportions and yet it's fine if the artistic style such as chibi has proportions that are out of wack. Hell, all of these images inherently have eyes that are out of proportion but it's fine because it's the artistic style, but just as these things can have unrealistic eye sizes (or perhaps no nose) it's not fine if the breasts are unrealistic as well? These are fictional characters, what does it matter how much realism is in there if the overall drawing of it is fine? You can claim all you want that out of proportion sizes decrease the quality of the image, but it's a style choice, and there are plenty of artistic styles in which there are exaggerated body parts.

For the life of me I can't honestly understand all this obsession for wanting to ban it so badly. You guys are unrelenting in wanting to ban this, and yet we have so many other worse things on danbooru, but things like ice cream cones eating children is "funny" (post #519556), depictions of decapitation (post #497465) is less "problematic," sex with large animals (post #464253) "tolerable," stomach_bulges and monster sex (post #536460) is "ok," and having a huge_penis (post #491924) is "fine" if you're not human. I'm sorry, but that is a load of crock. You draw your magical line and say that everything past it is "unacceptable" past that point because of your intolerant belief that there couldn't possibly be something acceptable past it. We make our sugary and not-so-sugary sentences on how it's about weeding out poor quality images, but in reality this ban isn't about quality control it's about personal taste and laziness. Your personal taste doesn't care for it, so you take the lazy way out and ban it all because you don't want to be bothered by it in the queue or deal with it later on. I admit that I'm no different, but total bans like this reeks of the stench of everything that can be poor about how we moderate things.

If it's for comedic purposes, the situation may be different. This is why we have a mod queue. The mods will decide that.

And they're all shit too. But whether they are shit or not is not relevant to whether things in this topic are shit or not.

Never, ever, was moderation supposed to be "fair" by any objective standards. The rules are what we say they are.

I agree here. Making large_breasts the "largest" tag would dilute it and make it less useful in my opinion.

*Sigh*. I really, really dislike treating us as mindless cretins who can't do anything without an explicit written instruction. Which is what the above essentialy boils to. It's obvious that making fun of things is a different case that will be treated differently. The ban is about gigantic breasts drawn seriously as if women looking like that existed.
