Artist tags: "meimi" & "meimi_k" mergable?

Having been around a while, I usually know how to fix small issues like this one, but this particular case has caused a bit of a kerfuffle in my brain.

Anyone who follows the C.C. or Lelouch tags is probably familiar with an artist that goes by meimi (pixiv here). She draws a lot of Lelouch x C.C. work and has a pretty distinct style. Somewhere along the way, last year, a new pixiv account popped up with the exact same style and characters, and also with virtually the same name (meimi_k). I have no doubt that it's the same artist, but she hasn't linked to anything that definitely connects the two. That said, I don't know if the two artist tags should be merged or not.

Sorry if this is a problem with a simple solution, I've just never handled anything like it myself. Hopefully someone can set me on the right track!

It's going to be pretty hard to totally confirm it with the time gap but the styles are quite similar.

As for why the artist has two accounts, I wouldn't be surprised if they forgot the password for their first account and so they just made a second one.

I think the evidence is concrete enough to retag meimi_k's stuff as meimi, but if you're interested in being absolutely sure, the personal information for the new account says she lives in Iceland, so you could probably send a PM in English and get an answer about the account switch direct from the source.

also both listed same age and birth date. maybe we can use her full name from her defunct website kasahara_meimi?

The website link in meimi's profile has an image somewhere that has "© Meimi.K" on it.

A lot of people are in "Iceland" because they choose outside of Japan as their location but don't actually say what country they're in. Iceland is the default choice because it's first on the list by gojuuon ordering.

I agree that they should be merged, there seems to be enough evidence for it.

Also, this is just like the case of kitazinger and kitaziman, the names and art styles appear to be too similar for it to be a coincidence. What do you guys think about this?

Their display names are actually "Marunomi Kaki-P" and "Nichibotsu", which aren't similar. Their account names look similar, but I'm not sure how much that's worth when there's also the completely unrelated artist kitazimaai, whose account name is also strikingly similar.

Currently the only evidence of them being the same person that I can see is their art styles. But I wouldn't say that's definite proof either, as it's possible that one is imitating the other's style (or they're both imitating a third artist). I don't think it's very likely, but I'm just throwing the possibility out there.

I think we should have more evidence before merging them. You could try asking the artist directly if they're the same person, but if the artist is intentionally keeping them separate (which is likely) he might not answer you.
