whoever tags this artist with ai gen or assisted needs their eyes checked. Guy's a legend and someone has the audacity to tag his art as AI? smh
shameful display

I mean, it does look like AI, and if you compare it to their other artworks, the style is very different, They also return to their original style in the artworks that follow after this one
The artist might want to try integrating AI into their own workflow or just experiment with it to get some OCs design

There are also signs that the image (post #6290359) was collaged from different images, which could indicate some AI-assist in progress , or perhaps the artist just prefers to draw and paint in fewest layers possible, resulting in a very rough edit

The thing is, it's really hard to get AI to create the same random character with exact same design without messing something up (unless you have enough data to train it)
So if the artist really did used an AI that means:
- The artist did a sketch to some degree
- then used AI to help render it (This explains why the way it renders is very different from their other work, but it could also just be the way the artist sketches, which still weird considering their rendered artworks lean toward soft render with a minimal style)
- but the AI is very inconsistent, so they had to make many gens and edit the good parts together and then touched it up manually

Comment on post #7207810 accusing it of being AI due to a “distorted left thigh.” I don’t really see what they’re talking about.

Another post by this artist, post #6223045, is tagged as AI-generated despite having no artifacts, having no signs of AI melt, and clearly having visible brush strokes and human imperfections if you zoom in. It could still be traced over AI but that would still make it assisted not generated.

This is due to said post being a derivative work of an actual AI-generated image in this set.

This caused the lower res child post sourced from twitter to be tagged as AI-assisted, as we don’t have a tag for human redraws of AI art, and later someone else tagged both it and the parent as AI-generated.

They have made twitter posts speaking negatively about AI on both of their accounts which makes me doubt any of their art is AI.

Sorry this turned into a defense post of this artist. At first I just wanted to ask about the first post because of the comment and then it spiraled from there.

- Sudden style shift around January (2 months after NovelAI released a new model 'V3' that is good at replicating artists style)
- The 'modare' style that a lot of NovelAI users really like to use in their prompts
I'd say most of the line art is definitely hand-drawn, but the rendering work is not.

https://files.catbox.moe/wkkr2r.png
If you zoom in on some of their work, you can actually see double line art. one from the artist and one from AI
And you can see how badly upscaled the AI part is compared to the hand-drawn part
They also manually redraw the hands (ex: post #7240059), which is why it looks very rough (NovelAI-V3 can actually do better if you do it properly)

But it seems like the artist might consider ditching AI-assist considering their last two artworks on their Twitter, which style seems more appropriate for their level

post #6223045 is just derivative work not actual AI

Im trying to wrap my head around this. Why would someone well know as blvefo9, who made a name for himself, his style recognized by many suddenly switch to AI, just so his reputation gets tarnished? The guy draws well. Why would he need to use AI?

I noticed a lot of users here only look at the image, but there is another thing that need to be considered when accusing artists of using AI. One big indicator of someone using AI is how frequent their posts are. A fine example of it would be rea_loixacra. Anyone ever noticed anything odd? Posts every few days with multiple edits on his fanbox. Unless this guy draws while he sleeps at his computer, i dont see how else he manages to do that. And not to mention the generic AI like shading his images have. His posts are ai assisted at best. Compare him to blvefo9 who posts every 2 weeks or so, with 1 to 2 edits, which is more realistic.

AI users love to spam images because its dopamine when getting likes and shares. Its addicting.

I checked blvefo9's pixiv, and compared it to the one you shared. Its him. Its his standard style that is easly recognizable. Its how he draws and always has. Its not generated nor assisted.

Have you heard of Kim Hyung Tae? It's very naive if you think a lot of big artists never try to play around with AI. Does that mean they 100% switch to AI? No, that's why I mention 'They might just be experimenting with it' in my post

Go check out the modare 100-day challenge, and you'll see that it's possible (Now many AI bros are using his artstyle too consider how many high quality artworks he did)

You've seen other works from them right? Good. Now, show me their other work aside from those three OC designs that contain these kind of artifacts

post #6290358 and post #6290359 recently got tagged ai-generated. What's the general opinion of these here?

The fact that post #6281424 has the artist bothering to write in legible text whereas post #6290358 is illegible scribbles that most AI does when it tries to write small text definitely strikes me as being signs that it's either wholely AI-generated or genned and then retouched.

You should be judging artwork by its own merits rather than just the artist they're attached to.

post #6290358 comes off much cleaner, so if there is AI involved it was cleaned up and used as an assist. In comparison post #6290359 has a lot of issues, so if there was any cleaning done of it, it was much less cleaning. With post #6290358 as a reference, you can see things like pattern inconsistencies in post #6290359 with her attire, besides the even more blatant weird desk items, pipe she's holding, chair, and window lattice.

post #7267169 looks ai, but it was made in 2018, and I don't know if ai was that prevalent then. Is this really ai? Does anyone notice any deformities?

The artist updated the images on March 10th, 2023. You can see this if you hover over the info icon next to the date on Pixiv.
