it might be better to just move these posts over manually and lock the tag tbh. cameltoe is the possible result of having a pussy covered by some clothing, i.e. not every panties post is also cameltoe. “covered” also sounds like covering crotch, which isn’t something we want associated with cameltoe.

Yeah, at this point I can't thrust the intelligence of the average non-wiki-reading, literalist danbooru tagger not to do something stupid like starting to add this tag to covering crotch posts

But does this kind of thing happen to covered nipples?
Like KagayakuShiningGate said, there's a whole set of covered_* tags, and while it makes sense that covered collarbone or covered navel have no real risk of someone tagging those on posts with the character manually covering those parts (if there's any post like that), if it's not an issue for covering breasts/covering nipples vs covered nipples then it shouldn't be for covered pussy vs covering pussy either

Covered pussy could also be the result of see-through clothes (not always but often underwear) while still not being a cameltoe, so unsure about the alias.

Agree, it being covered doesn't always mean that a cameltoe is present. If I take it to the literal tag meaning, for example, you could say that post #6139630 shows a covered_pussy but shows no dented contour line for a cameltoe. For something see-through, post #5962654 shows it covered, but also without any cameltoe. To me, it kind of feel like it goes the other way around, as in a cameltoe implies it has to be covered to be present, else it be a cleft_of_venus.

No, let's not take it in the litteral sense, if we did, then covered nipples would be tagged everywhere, and covered pussy would be tagged on every pantyshot AND on every leotard post where the crotch is visible. post #6139630 is neither cameltoe nor covered pussy, that's just a close-up on panties with no value in tagging anything *_pussy* , it has nothing to do with post #6132051 or post #6220754 , the stuff that would typically fall into covered pussy if we end up keeping it; If anything, it's going to be more explicit than the average cameltoe by essence

covered_pussy sounds like a tag that only exists because our other covered_x tags rotted people's brains to the point they forgot cameltoe existed. Looking through the tag, I can already see several posts where it's not a cameltoe but "the pussy is covered" (post #6207308, post #6167405, post #6110526, post #6086985 etc.), so I'm not sure an alias is a good idea.

Speaking of, I've been meaning to submit a BUR to alias covered_nipples to covered_erect_nipples for these exact reasons, so thanks for reminding me. That BUR can now be found in topic #23816.

it really doesn't help that this tag is wikiless. going off of the name alone, "covered pussy" can mean any number of things like cameltoe, see-through panties (which is those two posts you linked at the end), covering crotch, and so on. no matter how clearly we define this tag usage, having an ambiguous name will drag it down since sadly many uppers don't read wikis.

i dont disagree with that, if the name by itself is prone to mistagging i'm not against fixing that in the slightest, but first there's a need to define what this tag's purpose is going to be if it is to be kept, and if it ends up including stuff like post #6139630 then it's gonna be useless

Mmm... Yeah if the usage is too ambiguous, specific or wide arching then I'm not really sure how to best define it. If it applies to anything without a cameltoe it's going to be full of panty shots. I'm having trouble finding a use cases which are unique and descriptive enough to separate from covering_crotch, cameltoe, etc. situations.
Could it have some use to describe when covering_crotch isn't done actively? Say something like a pelvic_curtain passively covering their pussy? Something like this post #6251213, post #6249963? For something that's a curtain and also not deliberate (I think) post #6067517. No case of cameltoe but might have tag overlaps. We might be back to the ambiguous tag name though.

i don't think covered pussy should be mutually exclusive with cameltoe, it doesn't need to be to find a use;
post #6067517 is just convenient censoring, post #6251213 looks just like impossible pelvic curtain and post #6249963 is no different than any regular pelvic curtain other than the spread legs.
imo, in cases of non-sheer clothing, covered pussy should be for things like post #6254617
