Upload Feedback Thread - post here if your uploads keep getting deleted

People usually don't approve inferior copies if a better version is already up. Unluckily someone with unrestricted uploads posted a better version before yours went through the queue and I personally wouldn't approve that post anyway.

I talked about this weeks ago from forum #243339 to back.

Let me ask from another angle. Usually, before clicking on the avatar, the images I see on pixiv will be relatively small. Most of the time, I think that the pixiv version is compressed and has a small resolution. So in fact , are pixiv’s image files larger than Twitter’s?

I've started uploading pages of a translated doujinshi, but after a couple of days, they were all deleted. Posts from the artist have been published on Danbooru in the past by non-affiliated groups. The translations are owned by myself and I wanted to share them. Does such content not belong here or did I make a mistake somewhere?

Here's a link to a screenshot of one of the pages and the deletion notice:

I'd greatly appreciate If someone can share the reason for deletion and reveal what needs to be done for the posts to get approved if possible.

Hard-translated content is generally frowned upon. You should upload the raw images and translate them with the note function instead.

Usually they're less compressed than Twitter. Just hours ago I found shu_bii's Pixiv account, the images there are all .pngs with the same resolution as those already on Danbooru, I plan to upload them after I get some sleep if no one else does first. Artists tend to post .pngs or higher resolutions to Pixiv, but again, that's not a rule. Check my last 5 uploads for examples of this.

To know the quality of a Pixiv image you can go to the artwork page and click on the image, it should expand even on mobile. Then you can open the expanded image on a new tab, that's the full res. You can zoom in and compare it side by side if it's less pixelated than a Twitter-sourced image or not. You can also upload to Danbooru using the bookmarklet, I do that when I'm lazy or using my phone, if the art is of lower or same quality than one that's already posted here, I ignore it. There's this userscript by Nameless Contributor (forum #227725) to hide uploads from your My Uploads page. I hope it was helpful.

If I acquire the original artist's blessing, would the images be approved then? What if the artist posts the very same translations on their social media and I link it to it when posting?

The original artist's blessing, while nice to have, is not the issue here. The issue is posting the images with English text edited onto it by you yourself as opposed to the original Japanese text the artist (or writer if they have a collaborator) wrote. It's more than welcome to translate things here, but we're not a scanlation site like Mangadex, and images edited after the fact are heavily discouraged.

Compare what you posted to post #2225336 by the same artist as an example.

Understood, thank you so much!

OK,thanks
So did your last five uploads belong to the situation that the quality of pixiv pictures is not as high as that of twitter pictures, just because your account has no upload limit, so they can pass smoothly? In other words, I don't have to always use the pixiv version as the only standard?

No, 1upping is a bad behavior, I don't partake in that. I told you how to know the details of an image from Pixiv and tried to answer your question, if, in fact, Pixiv’s image files are larger than Twitter’s. I like to explain while giving examples.

Long story short, Pxiv usually has images with larger filesizes due to simply having less compression or artists uploading higher resolutions exclusively there. But being better than Twitter or other platform is not always the case.

Since I had already mentioned some Pixiv posts being .pngs with the same resolution than their Twitter counterparts, I offered my last uploads as examples of higher res .jpgs sourced from Pixiv, sorry for my phasing in the last reply. You can also find Pixiv posts of lower quality than Twitter posts; Pixiv posts with slightly higher filesize than Twitter posts (the same file, less compressed); and even Twitter posts with overall better quality than other Twitter posts. That's to answer you and touch the importance of checking artists' feeds.

Hi, could someone explain me what is wrong with the following images :

I uploaded a batch of 15 cgs from one of the Sakura VN franchise but none of them got accepted, I don't think it's due to the quality as I litteraly took those from the game file, on top of that, others very similar cgs from the very same franchise are already on the site (post #2223916 or post #4337561). Should I appeal them ? Or have I done something wrong ?

Oh, thanks, that is to say, this is an unavoidable possibility, I remember that the upload page of danbooru seems to show the file size, maybe I can refer to that

Don't ask for the same image multiple times. Generally the quality is just not good enough for danbooru, because it's mediocre.

Can you be more specific about what is "bad quality"?

"Quality" in this case refers to how well drawn it is.

Again, that's not the reason your post got deleted but you should worry about actually tagging your posts beforehand, artist tag + copyright tag + chartag with 0 general tags is 0 effort, and the same with barely 10 general tags isn't great either

People have been asking for a thread where feedback on uploads could be obtained. So here it is. I have some reservations about how acrimonious this thread is likely to get, and if it turns into nothing more than a flame-fest, I will lock it.

Rules for those requesting feedback:
#1 - You are not guaranteed feedback. It is entirely voluntary to give it.
#2 - Danbooru may simply not be an appropriate place for your favorite art. If so, accept this and move on.
#3 - Try not to be too thin-skinned,and don't take things personally.

Rules for those giving feedback:
#1 - Give constructive feedback only.
#2 - Refrain from name-calling. Asking people to be thick-skinned doesn't mean you're allowed to be insulting.

post #6394133 12/12 people didn't like this. Can we get a reason here?

I'm not going to talk about specific post, but recently I feel that more images are kept unapproved, even with enough quality and even if I appeal several times.
It seems the same for not only my uploads, but others'. some are favorited over 50~100 times but unapproved
Sometimes the number of reviewer is less than 10. I think danbooru needs more approvers.
