Tag discussion: Yae Miko's outfit mistagged as a kimono

Posted under Tags

Prior to tag gardening, there were a significant number of Yae Miko posts in which her white outfit was mistagged as a kimono, despite the fact that her outfit does not even resemble a kimono to begin with (her outfit lacks the y-shaped opening that is typically seen on the front of kimonos). I'm not sure where the mistagging is stemming from, either because taggers assume her outfit is a kimono just because it is Japanese-themed, or if it's because of taggers arbitrarily taking tags from the Related Tags function (in which Yae is commonly associated with Raiden, who actually wears a kimono)?

Thought I might discuss this with other users for their opinion if they agree that Yae's outfit is not a kimono, meaning that her outfit was mistagged by users.

Miko means priestess, it's not the name of an outfit. Miko wear hakama and an upper garment that I don't even think we have a tag for.

Well, I guess it still works, since the wiki says "This tag is for pictures where at least one character is wearing the traditional outfit of a miko, a hakama skirt (almost always entirely red) and white kosode.".

Though, a standard "kosode" still nevertheless has the y-shaped opening just like kimonos, which (again) is not present on Yae's white top, yet mistaggers keep blindly tagging it as a "kimono".

No, Yae's outfit is still pretty far off from traditional miko garb. She should be tagged under nontraditional miko if anything, though currently only 24 of nearly 2000 posts of her are tagged with it
