Nuking Overly Specific Mario Costume Tags

No what it does instead is absolutely bloat the character tags for no utility at all. Have you checked out Fate tagging or series with implications inside of implications? Late-stage costume tagging is a clustered mess and I think as many copyrights as possible should avoid it.

I also echo the person above who questions the actual traffic these tags get, because all I see is tagbloat that almost certainly doesn't get searched.

I can't tell you about traffic, I can only say that I use outfit tags whenever available. If I like a character design I usually want to see other art of it. The outfit tag is how I do that. I can't imagine I'm the only one.

Sure, outfit tags balloon the amount of character tags (and any individual one might not receive much traffic), but they're rather lightweight because they all have the context of a single character...

... although my condolences on working with FGO posts. I've mostly ignored Grand Order precisely because it appears to indulge the eccentricities of Fate. But given that some of these simple Random Outfit Xth Ascension tags each have thousands of posts, I'm sure there are those appreciative these tags exists.

After reading through this entire thread, I can sympathize with the arguments from both sides here.

On one hand, it's true that several of these character tags can be replicated with over 90% accuracy by using a simple two-tag copyright + character search. From the perspective of someone fighting against character tag bloat, they're a truly pointless addition that really doesn't need to exist - it's like making a long_blue_hair tag when users can just search long_hair blue_hair.

On the other hand, it's an absurd thing to tell the average user "yes, these 10 Daisy costumes have their own character tags, but to search for those other ones you need to do a princess_daisy + specific_mario_game search for each one". Searching for a costume tag is (unsurprisingly) the simplest, easiest, and most intuitive way to search for a costume/skin, especially for tourists who've never even heard of mario_golf:_super_rush or mario_tennis_aces. These users should not be tasked with mandatory research just to figure out how to search for "more hot pics of Daisy in that tiny white tennis skirt".

Even I, someone who can search for more than two tags at once, am of the opinion that these costume tags are preferable to a copy + char search - the latter is simply a less convenient solution, and one that would only exist for the sake of having a few less character tags. I am unconvinced that this small goal is worth the (admittedly somewhat minor) inconvenience it causes to achieve it.

(A few other minor points - I agree that having two seperate character tags for "outfit X" and "outfit X with a wristband" is ridiculous; it fractures searches for essentially the exact same outfit on a pointless technicality. I also agree that Smash Bros. spirit/trophy names are not a good source for this kind of thing, for the reasons Damian pointed out in forum #370128.)

While I do think the nuke is fine, the arguments over the Peach and Daisy costumes especially did make me think about how it might be good to merge those overlying sports tags together, barring extreme differences (like the Striker Peach and Striker Daisy tags) together so that you can fill all your "sexy sweaty Peach/Daisy doing sports stuff" needs without needing to jump through 10+ copytags just to find what you want. That is really annoying work for costumes with very few differences between them.

I imagine if you're aiming for a specific version, you can use the copytag in conjunction for that. That'd be how I'd propose dealing with the dilemma at least.
